Vestigios de una ciudad maya de hace más de 2.800 años fueron descubiertos dentro de una zona arqueológica en el norte de Guatemala, cerca de México, informó este jueves el Ministerio de Cultura del país centroamericano.
La civilización maya se expandió en territorios que actualmente ocupan el sur de México, Guatemala, Belice, El Salvador y Honduras, y su existencia se remonta a por lo menos el 2.000 a.c, tuvieron su esplendor en el período Clásico, entre los años 400-450 d.c., y su decadencia en el Posclásico (900-1200 d.c.).
